In my thirties I felt the need to deepen my psychological work by bringing all my trainings and personal experiences together.
I had been working as a drama teacher with children and ran my own school, and I also had a meditation practice and the love of yoga. I then trained as a Transpersonal Counsellor and psychotherapist with the Centre for Transpersonal Psychology in London and I have an advanced diploma in Transpersonal psychotherapy and accreditation with the UKCP. I have also trained in EMDR, in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for trauma.
I studied Bob Moore’s meditation/exercises, as taught by Hilmar Schonauer in London and Trained as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher based on the work of Jon Kabat Zinn courses as taught at Bangor University.
I have been teaching MBSR for students and staff at the University of Essex for five years. 1 year ago I moved to Suffolk. I am now developing my private practice and extending my courses to Suffolk and Norwich area.
I have been meditating for many years since suffering from some stress related illness. I found that the best treatment was mindfulness, which enabled me to catch the triggers and embrace the moment. MBSR has helped me immensely and now I have more freedom from life stresses.
Mindfulness based stress reduction can help us to be more present and accepting toward emotional stress, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. We can do this through the practice of mindfulness by becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and body sensations, from moment –to- moment. In practicing mindfulness we give ourselves the possibility of greater freedom and choice, so we do not have to go into the same old ‘mental ruts’.
